Shrnu putra mahabhaaga yogashantipradaayakam | Yena tvam sarvayogajno brahmabhuto bhavishyasi || 1 || |
Listen, O fortunate one, bestower of yoga and peace, By which you will become a knower of all yoga and attain Brahman. |
चित्तं पञ्चविधं प्रोक्तं क्षिप्तं मूढं महामते । विक्षिप्तं च तथैकाग्रं निरोधं भूमिसज्ञकम् ॥ २॥ |
Chittam pancavidham proktam kshiptam moodham mahaamate | Vikshiptam cha tathaikaagram nirodham bhumisajnakam || 2 || |
The mind is said to have five aspects – scattered, deluded, one-pointed, and restrained – O wise one, understand them well. Control the restless mind for mastery. |
तत्र प्रकाशकर्ताऽसौ चिन्तामणिहृदि स्थितः । साक्षाद्योगेश योगेज्ञैर्लभ्यते भूमिनाशनात् ॥ ३॥ |
Tatra prakaashakarta’sau chintaamanihridi sthitah | Saakshaadyogesha yogejnairlabhyate bhuminaashanaat || 3 || |
In the heart of the wish-fulfilling gem, the illuminator resides, Attained directly by those yogis who destroy the earth-like illusion. |
चित्तरूपा स्वयंबुद्धिश्चित्तभ्रान्तिकरी मता । सिद्धिर्माया गणेशस्य मायाखेलक उच्यते ॥ ४॥ |
Chittaroopaa swayambuddhistchittabhrantikaree mataa | Siddhirmaayaa ganeshasya maayaakhelaka uchyate || 4 || |
The form of the mind itself is the deluding intellect, The power of illusion of Lord Ganesha is known as Maya’s playful activity. |
अतो गणेशमन्त्रेण गणेशं भज पुत्रक । तेन त्वं ब्रह्मभूतस्तं शन्तियोगमवापस्यसि ॥ ५॥ |
Ato ganeshamantrena ganesham bhaja putraka | Tena tvam brahmabhootastam shantiyogamavaapsyasi || 5 || |
Therefore, O son, worship Lord Ganesha with the Ganesha Mantra, By that, you will become Brahman, and thus attain the peace of yoga |
इत्युक्त्वा गणराजस्य ददौ मन्त्रं तथारुणिः । एकाक्षरं स्वपुत्राय ध्यनादिभ्यः सुसंयुतम् ॥ ६॥ |
Ityuktwaa ganaraajasya daud mantram tathaarunih | Ekaaksharam swaputraaya dhyaanaadibhyah susamyutam || 6 || |
Saying thus, the young sage gave the mantra of Lord Ganesha, A single syllable, well-concentrated, to his own son for meditation. |
तेन तं साधयति स्म गणेशं सर्वसिद्धिदम् । क्रमेण शान्तिमापन्नो योगिवन्द्योऽभवत्ततः ॥ ७॥ |
Tena tam saadhayati sma ganesham sarvasiddhidam | KrameNa shaantimaapanno yogivandyo’bhabhattatah || 7 || |
By that, he achieves Lord Ganesha, the giver of all accomplishments, Gradually attains tranquility and becomes worthy of yogis’ reverence. |
