ॐ अस्य श्रीरामचन्द्रनामाष्टोत्तरशतमन्त्रस्य ब्रह्मा ऋषिः ।
अनुष्टुप् छन्दः । जानकीवल्लभः श्रीरामचन्द्रो देवता ॥
Om asya shri ramachandra namashottarashata-mantrasya brahma rishi.
Anushtup chanda. Janaki vallabha shri ramachandro devata.
Om: This is the chant of 108 names of Lord Rama. Brahma is the seer (rishi) of this mantra.
The meter is Anushtup.
Janaki Vallabha is the deity of this mantra
ॐ बीजम् । नमः शक्तिः । श्रीरामचन्द्रः कीलकम् ।
श्रीरामचन्द्रप्रीत्यर्थे जपे विनियोगः ॥
Om bijam. Namah shaktih. Shri ramachandrah kilakam.
Shri ramachandra prityarthe jape viniyogah.
Om: This is the seed (bija). Salutations to the power (shakti).
Shri Rama Chandram is the kilaka (pin or pillar).
For pleasing Shri Rama Chandram, this japa (recitation) is performed.

ॐ नमो भगवते राजाधिराजाय परमात्मने अङ्गुष्ठाभ्यां नमः ।
ॐ नमो भगवते विद्याधिराजाय हयग्रीवाय तर्जनीभ्यां नमः ।
Om namo bhagavate rajadirajaya paramatmane angushthabhyam namah.
Om namo bhagavate vidyadirajaya hayagrivaya tarjanibhyam namah.
Om: Salutations to the divine Lord, the king of kings, the supreme soul. Salutations to you through the thumbs.
Om: Salutations to the divine Lord, the king of knowledge, the horse-faced Lord Hayagriva. Salutations to you through the index fingers.
ॐ नमो भगवते जानकीवल्लभाय मध्यमाभ्यां नमः ।
ॐ नमो भगवते रघुनन्दनायामिततेजसे अनामिकाभ्यां नमः ।
Om namo bhagavate janakivallabhaya madhyamabhyam namah.
Om namo bhagavate raghunanandana-ayamitatejase anamikabhyam namah.
Om: Salutations to the divine Lord, the beloved of Sita, through the middle fingers.
Om: Salutations to the divine Lord, the delight of the Raghu dynasty, radiant with immeasurable brilliance, through the ring fingers.
ॐ नमो भगवते क्षीराब्धिमध्यस्थाय नारायणाय कनिष्ठिकाभ्यां नमः ।
ॐ नमो भगवते सत्प्रकाशाय रामाय करतलकरपृष्ठाभ्यां नमः ।
Om namo bhagavate ksheerabdhimadhya-sthaya narayanaya kanishthikabhyam namah.
Om namo bhagavate satprakashaya ramaya karatalakaraprishthabhyam namah.
Om: Salutations to the divine Lord, who dwells in the ocean of milk, who is Narayana, through the little fingers.
Om: Salutations to the divine Lord, the true light, Shri Rama, through the palms and back of the hands.
षडङ्गन्यासः ।
ॐ नमो भगवते राजाधिराजाय परमात्मने हृदयाय नमः ।
ॐ नमो भगवते विद्याधिराजाय हयग्रीवाय शिरसे स्वाहा ।
Om namo bhagavate rajadirajaya paramatmane hridayaya namah.
Om namo bhagavate vidyadirajaya hayagrivaya shirase svaha.
Om: Salutations to the divine Lord, the king of kings, the supreme soul, through the heart.
Om: Salutations to the divine Lord, the king of knowledge, Lord Hayagriva, through the head. ‘Swaha’ is offered.
ॐ नमो भगवते जानकीवल्लभाय शिखायै वषट् ।
ॐ नमो भगवते रघुनन्दनायामिततेजसे कवचाय हुम् ।
Om namo bhagavate janakivallabhaya shikhaayai vashat.
Om namo bhagavate raghunanandanaya amitatejase kavachaya hum.
Om: Salutations to the divine Lord, the beloved of Sita, through the tuft of hair (shikha). ‘Vashat’ is invoked.
Om: Salutations to the divine Lord, the delight of the Raghu dynasty, radiant with immeasurable brilliance, through the armor (kavacha). ‘Hum’ is the armor.
ॐ नमो भगवते क्षीराब्धिमध्यस्थाय नारायणाय नेत्रत्रयाय वौषट् ।
ॐ नमो भगवते सत्प्रकाशाय रामाय अस्त्राय फट् । इति दिग्बन्धः ॥
Om namo bhagavate ksheerabdhimadhya-sthaya narayanaya netratrayaya vashat.
Om namo bhagavate satprakashaaya raamaya astraya phat. Iti digbandhah.
Om: Salutations to the divine Lord, who dwells in the ocean of milk, who is Narayana, through the three eyes. ‘Vashat’ is invoked.
Om: Salutations to the divine Lord, the true light, Shri Rama, through the weapon (astra). ‘Phat’ is the sound that seals this directional binding (digbandha).
अथ ध्यानम् ।
मन्दाराकृतिपुण्यधामविलसद्वक्षस्थलं कोमलं,
शान्तं कान्तमहेन्द्रनीलरुचिराभासं सहस्राननम् ।
Mandarakritipunyadhamavilasadvakshasthalam komalam,
Shantam kantamahendranilaruchirabhasam sahasrananam.
I bow to the one with a serene and radiant countenance, like the spotless and delicate jasmine flower, in whose chest shines the divine, tranquil, blue-like sapphire, with a thousand faces
वन्देऽहं रघुनन्दनं सुरपतिं कोदण्डदीक्षागुरुं,
रामं सर्वजगत्सुसेवितपदं सीतामनोवल्लभम् ॥ १६॥
Vande’ham raghunandanaṁ surapatim kodandadeekshaagurum,
Ramam sarvajagatsusevitapadam sitamanovallabham.
I offer my salutations to Lord Rama, the delight of the Raghu dynasty, the chief of the gods, the Guru of the bow initiation, whose feet are served by all beings in the universe, and who is the beloved of Sita.
अथ स्तोत्रम् ।
सहस्रशीर्ष्णे वै तुभ्यं सहस्राक्षाय ते नमः ।
नमः सहस्रहस्ताय सहस्रचरणाय च ॥ १७॥
Sahasrashirshne vai tubhyam sahasrakshaya te namah.

Namah sahasrahastaya sahasracharanaya cha.

Salutations to you who have a thousand heads and a thousand eyes.
Salutations to you who have a thousand hands and a thousand feet.
नमो जीमूतवर्णाय नमस्ते विश्वतोमुख ।
अच्युताय नमस्तुभ्यं नमस्ते शेषशायिने ॥ १८॥
Namo jimootavarnaya namaste vishwatomukha.

Achyutaya namastubhyam namaste sheshashayine.

Salutations to you with the radiant complexion.
Salutations to you with faces turned in all directions.
Salutations to you, the infallible one.
Salutations to you who reclines on the serpent Shesha.
नमो हिरण्यगर्भाय पञ्चभूतात्मने नमः ।
नमो मूलप्रकृतये देवानां हितकारिणे ॥ १९॥
Namo hiranyagarbhaya panchabhootatmane namah.

Namo moolaprakrutaye devanam hitakarine.

Salutations to you, the golden embryo.
Salutations to you, the soul of the five elements.
Salutations to you, the source of creation.
Salutations to you who act for the welfare of the gods.
नमस्ते सर्वलोकेश सर्वदुःखनिषूदन ।
शङ्खचक्रगदापद्मजटामुकुटधारिणे ॥ २०॥
Namaste sarvalokesh sarvaduhkhanishoodana.

Shankhachakragadapadmajatamukutadhharine.

Salutations to you, the Lord of all worlds.
Salutations to you, the dispeller of all sorrows.
Salutations to you, adorned with conch, discus, mace, lotus, and a crown of matted hair.
नमो गर्भाय तत्त्वाय ज्योतिषां ज्योतिषे नमः ।
ॐ नमो वासुदेवाय नमो दशरथात्मज ॥ २१॥
Namo garbhaya tattvaya jyotisham jyotishe namah.

Om namo vaasudevaya namo dasharathatmaja.

Salutations to you, the womb of all existence.
Salutations to you, the essence of principles.
Salutations to you, the inner light of all lights.
Salutations to you, the son of King Dasharatha.
नमो नमस्ते राजेन्द्र सर्वसम्पत्प्रदाय च ।
नमः कारुण्यरूपाय कैकेयीप्रियकारिणे ॥ २२॥
Namo namaste rajendra sarvasampatpradaya cha.

Namah kaarunyarupaya kaikayipriyakarine.

Salutations to you, the king of kings.
Salutations to you, the bestower of all wealth.
Salutations to you, the embodiment of compassion.
Salutations to you, who pleases Queen Kaikayi.
नमो दन्ताय शान्ताय विश्वामित्रप्रियाय ते ।
यज्ञेशाय नमस्तुभ्यं नमस्ते क्रतुपालक ॥ २३॥
Namo dantaaya shaantaaya vishwamitrapriyaaya te.

Yajneshaya namastubhyam namaste kratupaalaka.

Salutations to you, the possessor of self-control and peace.
Salutations to you, dear to Sage Vishvamitra.
Salutations to you, the lord of sacrifices.
Salutations to you, the protector of rituals.
नमो नमः केशवाय नमो नाथाय शर्ङ्गिणे ।

त्रिविक्रम नमस्तेऽस्तु सीतायाः पतये नमः ।
वामनाय नमस्तुभ्यं नमस्ते राघवाय च ॥ २७॥
Trivikrama namastestu seetaaya pataye namah.

Vaamanaaya namastubhyam namaste raaghavaaya cha.

Salutations to you, Lord Trivikrama (Vamana).
Salutations to you, the Lord of Sita.
Salutations to you, Lord Vamana.
Salutations to you, Lord Raghava.
नमो नमः श्रीधराय जानकीवल्लभाय च ।
नमस्तेऽस्तु हृषीकेश कन्दर्पाय नमो नमः ॥ २८॥
Namah namo shri dharaaya jaanakivallabhaya cha.

Namaste’hrisheekesha kandarpaya namo namah.

Salutations to you, the holder of the goddess Lakshmi.
Salutations to you, the beloved of Janaki (Sita).
Salutations to you, Lord Hrishikesha.
Salutations to you, the vanquisher of Kandarpa (Cupid).
नमस्ते पद्मनाभाय कौसल्याहर्षकारिणे ।
नमो राजीवनेत्राय नमस्ते लक्ष्मणाग्रज ॥ २९॥
Namaste padmanaabhaaya kaushalyaaharshakaarine.

Namo raajeendra netraaya namaste lakshmanagraja.

Salutations to you, Lord Padmanabha.
Salutations to you, the source of joy for Queen Kausalya.
Salutations to you, the lotus-eyed one.
Salutations to you, the elder brother of Lakshmana.
नमो नमस्ते काकुत्स्थ नमो दामोदराय च ।
विभीषणपरित्रातर्नमः सङ्कर्षणाय च ॥ ३०॥
Namo namaste kaakutstha namo daamodaraaya cha.

Vibhishanaparitraatarnamah sankarshanaaya cha.

Salutations to you, Lord Kakutstha (descendant of Kakutstha dynasty).
Salutations to you, Lord Damodara (Krishna, who was bound with a rope around his waist).
Salutations to you, the protector of Vibhishana.
Salutations to you, Lord Aniruddha (a form of Lord Vishnu).
वासुदेव नमस्तेऽस्तु नमस्ते शङ्करप्रिय ।

Vaasudeva namastestu namaste shankarapriya.

Pradyumnaaya namastubhyamaniruddhaaya te namah.

Salutations to you, Lord Vasudeva (Krishna).

Salutations to you, Lord Pradyumna (another form of Lord Krishna).
Salutations to you, Lord Aniruddha.
सदसद्भक्तिरूपाय नमस्ते पुरुषोत्तम ।
अधोक्षज नमस्तेऽस्तु सप्ततालहराय च ॥ ३२॥
Sadasad bhaktiroopaaya namaste purushottama.

Adhokshaja namastestu saptataalaharaaya cha.

Salutations to you, the embodiment of both existence and non-existence.

Salutations to you, Lord Adhokshaja (the imperceptible one).
Salutations to you, who removed the seven lower worlds (symbolically representing various negativities).
खरदूषणसंहर्त्रे श्रीनृसिम्हाय ते नमः ।
अच्युताय नमस्तुभ्यं नमस्ते सेतुबन्धक ॥ ३३॥
Kharadushana samhatre shri nrusimhaaya te namah.

Achyutaaya namastubhyam namaste setubandhaka.

Salutations to you, the destroyer of Kharasura and Dushana.
Salutations to you, Lord Narasimha (the man-lion incarnation).
Salutations to you, Lord Achyuta (the infallible).
Salutations to you, the builder of the bridge (Rama Setu) to Lanka.
जनार्दन नमस्तेऽस्तु नमो हनुमदाश्रय ।
उपेन्द्रचन्द्रवन्द्याय मारीचमथनाय च ॥ ३४॥
Janaardana namastestu namo hanumadaashraya.

Upendrachandra vandyaya maarichamathanaya cha.

Salutations to you, Lord Janardana (upholder of people).
Salutations to you, who takes refuge in Hanuman.
Salutations to you, the one adored by Lord Upendra (Krishna).
Salutations to you, the vanquisher of Maricha.
नमो बालिप्रहरण नमः सुग्रीवराज्यद ।
जामदग्न्यमहादर्पहराय हरये नमः ॥ ३५॥
Namo balipraharaṇ namah sugreevraajyada.

Jaamadagnya mahaadarpa haraaya haraye namah.

Salutations to you, the remover of Bali’s arrogance.
Salutations to you, who bestowed the kingdom upon Sugriva.
Salutations to you, the vanquisher of Parashurama’s pride.
Salutations to you, Lord Hari (Vishnu).
नमो नमस्ते कृष्णाय नमस्ते भरताग्रज ।
नमस्ते पितृभक्ताय नमः शत्रुघ्नपूर्वज ॥ ३६॥
Namo namaste krishnaaya namaste bharataagraja.

Namaste pitribhaktaaya namah shatrughnapoorvaja.

Salutations to you, Lord Krishna.
Salutations to you, the elder brother of Bharata.
Salutations to you, the fulfiller of devotees’ desires.
Salutations to you, the foremost among the descendants of King Dasharatha.
अयोध्याधिपते तुभ्यं नमः शत्रुघ्नसेवित ।
नमो नित्याय सत्याय बुद्ध्यादिज्ञानरूपिणे ॥ ३७॥
Ayodhyaadhipate tubhyam namah shatrughnasevita.

Namo nityaaya satyaaya buddhyaadijnyaanaruupine.

Salutations to you, the Lord of Ayodhya.
Salutations to you, who is served by Shatrughna.
Salutations to you, the eternal truth and embodiment of wisdom and knowledge.
अद्वैतब्रह्मरूपाय ज्ञानगम्याय ते नमः ।

नमः पूर्णाय रम्याय माधवाय चिदात्मने ॥ ३८॥

Advaita brahmarupaaya jnaanagamyaaya te namah.

Namah poornaaya ramyaaya maadhavaaya chidaatmane.

Salutations to you, the embodiment of non-dual Brahman.

Salutations to you, who can be realized through knowledge.

Salutations to you, the perfect and beautiful one.

Salutations to you, Lord Madhava (another name for Krishna).

Salutations to you, the pure consciousness.

अयोध्येशाय श्रेष्ठाय चिन्मात्राय परात्मने ।
नमोऽहल्योद्धारणाय नमस्ते चापभञ्जिने ॥ ३९॥
Ayodhyeshaaya shreshthaaya chinmaatraaya paraatmane.

Namostu ahloddhaaraṇaaya namaste chaapabhanjine.

Salutations to you, the Lord of Ayodhya.

Salutations to you, the best among the best.

Salutations to you, the Supreme Soul beyond all dimensions.

Salutations to you, the rescuer of Ahalya.

Salutations to you, the one who broke the bow of Shiva (in Sita’s svayamvara).

सीतारामाय सेव्याय स्तुत्याय परमेष्ठिने ।
नमस्ते बाणहस्ताय नमः कोदण्डधारिणे ॥ ४०॥
Seetaaramaaya sevyaaya stutyaya parameshthine.

Namaste baanahastaaya namah kodandadhaarine.

Salutations to you, who is served by Sita and Rama.

Salutations to you, who is praised by the supreme beings.

Salutations to you, the one holding the bow (Shiva’s bow).

Salutations to you, the bearer of the divine Kodanda bow.

नमः कबन्धहन्त्रे च वालिहन्त्रे नमोऽस्तु ते ।
नमस्तेऽस्तु दशग्रीवप्राणसंहारकारिणे ॥ ४१॥
Namah kabandhahantre cha vaalihantre namo’stu te.

Namaste dashagreevapraanasamhaarakarine.

Salutations to you, the destroyer of Kabandha.
Salutations to you, the vanquisher of Vali.
Salutations to you, the remover of the life of Dashagriva (Ravana).
अष्टोत्तरशतं नाम्नां रमचन्द्रस्य पावनम् ।
एतत्प्रोक्तं मया श्रेष्ठ सर्वपातकनाशनम् ॥ ४२॥
Ashtottarashatam naamnaam seetaaraamasya paavanam.

Etatproktam mayaa shreshtha sarvapaataka naashanam.

These 108 holy names of Lord Rama,
Declared by me, O best of beings,
Can destroy all sins.
प्रचरिष्यति तल्लोके प्राण्यदृष्टवशाद्द्विज ।
तस्य कीर्तनमात्रेण जना यास्यन्ति सद्गतिम् ॥ ४३॥
Pracharishyati talloke praanyadrishtavashaaddvija.

Tasya keertanamaatrena janaa yaasyanti sadgatim.

By seeing someone with a loving gaze,
As a result of the influence of his recitation,
All beings shall attain the eternal abode.
तावद्विजृम्भते पापं ब्रह्महत्यापुरःसरम्।
यावन्नामाष्टकशतं पुरुषो न हि कीर्तयेत् ॥ ४४॥
Taavadvijrimbhate paapam brahmahatyaapurahsaram.

Yaavan naamashataṁ purusho na hi keertayet.

As long as the sin of killing a Brahmin,
Originating from a previous life, remains,
A person should not recite these 108 names.
तावत्कलेर्महोत्साहो निःशङ्कं सम्प्रवर्तते ।
यावच्छ्रीरामचन्द्रस्य शतनाम्नां न कीर्तनम् ॥ ४६॥
Taavat kaler mahaotsaaho nishankam sampravartate.

Yaavach shreeraamachandrasya shatanamaanaam na keertanam.

Until one becomes enthusiastic and fearless,
The recitation should not begin.
Until the chanting of Lord Rama’s 100 names is complete.
तावत्स्वरूपं रामस्य दुर्बोधं प्राणिनां स्फुटम् ।
यावन्न निष्ठया रामनाममाहात्म्यमुत्तमम् ॥ ४७॥
Taavatswaroopam raamasya durbodham praaninaam sphutam.

Yaavanna nishthayaa raamanaamamaahaatmyamuttamam.

One’s own true form becomes clear,
Only when the greatness of Rama’s name is heard with devotion.
कीर्तितं पठितं चित्ते धृतं संस्मारितं मुदा ।
अन्यतः शृणुयान्मर्त्यः सोऽपि मुच्येत पातकात् ॥ ४८॥
Keertitam pathitam chitte dhritam sansmaaritam mudaa.

Anyatah shruṇuyaanmartyah so’pi muchyet paatakaat.

When these names are sung, read, held in the heart,
And remembered, even accidentally,
A mortal being shall be liberated from all sins.
ब्रह्महत्यादिपापानां निष्कृतिं यदि वाञ्छति ।
रामस्तोत्रं मासमेकं पठित्वा मुच्यते नरः ॥ ४९॥
Brahmahatyaadipaapaanaam nishkritim yadi vaanchati.

Raamastotram maasamekam pathitvaa muchyate narah.

One desiring freedom from sins like the killing of a Brahmin,
By reading this Rama stotram once a month,
Shall be liberated.
दुष्प्रतिग्रहदुर्भोज्यदुरालापादिसम्भवम् ।
पापं सकृत्कीर्तनेन रामस्तोत्रं विनाशयेत् ॥ ५०॥
Dushpratigraha durbojya durvaalaapaadisambhavam.

Paapam sakritkeertanena raamastotram vinaashayet.

Sin caused by difficult acceptance of gifts, bad food,
Or harsh speech, can be eradicated by reciting the Rama stotram.
श्रुतिस्मृतिपुराणेतिहासागमशतानि च ।
अर्हन्ति नाल्पां श्रीरामनामकीर्तिकलामपि ॥ ५१॥
Shrutismrutipuraanetihāsaagamashataani cha.

Arhanti naalpaam shreeraama-naamakeertikalaamapi.

Hundreds of Shruti, Smriti, Puranas, Itihasas, and Agamas,
Are not equal in value to even a small part of the glory of Lord Rama’s name.
अष्टोत्तरशतं नाम्नां सीतारामस्य पावनम् ।
अस्य सङ्कीर्तनादेव सर्वान् कामान् लभेन्नरः ॥ ५२॥
Ashtottarashatam naamnaam seetaaraamasya paavanam.

Asya sankirtanaadeva sarvaan kaamaan labhennarah.

By reciting these 108 holy names of Sita and Rama,
All desires can be fulfilled.
पुत्रार्थी लभते पुत्रान् धनार्थी धनमाप्नुयात् ।
स्त्रियं प्राप्नोति पत्न्यर्थी स्तोत्रपाठश्रवादिना ॥ ५३॥
Putraarthee labhate putraan dhanaarthee dhanamaapnuyaath.

Striyam praapnoti patnyarthee stotrapaatashravaadinaa.

One desiring a son will get a son.
One desiring wealth will obtain wealth.
A person desiring a wife will attain a wife.
By the mere recitation of this stotram.
कुम्भोदरेण मुनिना येन स्तोत्रेण राघवः ।
स्तुतः पूर्वं यज्ञवाटे तदेतत्त्वां मयोदितम् ॥ ५४॥
Kumbhodarena muninaa yena stotrena raaghavaḥ.
Stutah poorvam yajnavaaṭe tadetat tvaam mayoditam.
In ancient times, the sage Kumbhodara,
By reciting this stotram, revealed its truth at a sacrifice.
॥ इति श्रीशतकोटिरामचरितान्तर्गते श्रीमदानन्दरामायणे वाल्मीकीये यात्राकाण्डे श्रीरामनामाष्टोत्तरशतनामस्तोत्रं नाम पञ्चमः सर्गः ॥
